10.30.03 mac geek question: in 10.3, is there any way to disable the password dialog when using fast switching? # 10.28.03 this is certainly the first, and probably the last, time that i will ever post a link to the major league baseball website. but in this case, it's totally worth it. just look at that picture! if you saw more of that in sports, i'd probably have season tickets. # 10.27.03 sorry for the extended intermission, but between the various kinds of hullabaloo that just happen around here, we had a wonderful guest pay us a visit. long weekend's like the last make me realize how terribly lucky i am to have such a great group of friends (inclusive of you, gentle reader). and brent is by far the best medicine there is; he's a cure for the common cold, and i'm living proof! # i got it this morning (thanks FedEx!) and i can't say enough good things. (except fontbook, with a font-limit, what a load of crap.) fast, pretty, fast, more intuitive. i just want to copy files all day long! # 10.22.03 pitchfork music news is reporting that elliot smith is dead. # 10.21.03 you know what i find annoying? not just, like annoying, but really, mind-blowingly annoying? people, who work in a modern office, function as part of a modern society, and yet can't figure out basic computer tasks. i'm not talking about those people who are complete troglodytes and don't know how to use a mouse or turn on their computer. i'm talking about people who are otherwise totally computer literate and can do tons and tons of things on the computer, but can't seem to figure out how to do some basic, essential task. those people drive me nuts. # 10.16.03 i was going to post about the new apple music updates today, but life has made my point for me. tonight, i just discovered that one of my favorite bands, travis, has a new album out, and i saw it online first. reliably, impulse won out. am i bothered that i don't have anything tangible, a jewel case, a lyric book, for this album from a band i love? yeah, i am. but i think that i'm about to learn to get over it. # 10.15.03 wow, this is like, historic. # 10.14.03 i can't decide about the faint; retro-savvy indie-pop genius, or fadish new-wave cliche? listen and share your thoughts, please. # 10.12.03 i've sooo been waiting for this: matador is finally making albums available on the iTunes music store. finally, something i want to download! # strange dreams last night. a long one, kinda scary, really weird, takes place at work (sort of) and in this truly bizarre way is all about other people shirking responsibility and asking you to cut corners. remember kids, it doesn't pay to do it half-way. in the second dream, some fireworks went astray and knocked over a high-tension power line in some little mountain town, knocking out power for the whole state. ugh, why can't i just have a good nudie dream? # 10.11.03 helluva week, really, but you know it. i haven't quite known what to say about the election. i'm angry and hurt; i feel let down by my fellow citizens, and more importantly, i feel let down by my party. but aaron says it best. we need to stop whining. there's too much work to do. we need to make this transition happen; and what a transition it is, for anywhere but here, these kinds of changes can't happen without spilling blood. and once this transition is done, we need to stay on our toes, because we need to watch this man, and keep these same mistakes from being repeated. we need to defend the rights of civil union that we've gained. so i am sad, more than a little, but i'm hopeful as well. not optimistic, but hopeful. # 10.07.03 i'm totally freaked out by this recall. a quick canvass of the web tells me that it's very, very close. i'll be working the polls with reese all day (until 9PM), so my perspective will be a little narrow. please, please make sure you go out and vote tomorrow. and everyone else, keep your finger's crossed.. # quick straw poll: which upcoming concert should i go and see? a.) the strokes b.) modest mouse c.) death cab for cutie # 10.05.03 do you know death cab for cutie? if not, you ought to. i've posted two excellent mp3's from my favorite album, the photo album; get information travels faster and debate exposes doubt. # continually in pursuit of new musical experiences, i accompanied tim to the awkwardly named tongue & groove bar/club last night. tim's the god of all the music you've never heard. he knows rock stars, too. amazing, amazing show; deathray, who i've been itching to see live for a few years now (how did i never manage to do that?) and the totally loud, insane and sublime high speed scene. if you have a chance to see HSS, make a point of it. # 10.04.03 shocking news: roy (of seigfried &) is currently recovering and in critical condition after being mauled on stage earlier today. # i wont bore you with the droll details of my shipping nightmare, suffice it to say that airborne express is far and away the WORST shipping company ever. # say hello to the newest member of our family. needless to say, i'll probably be too preoccupied to post anything for a couple of days. more to come after i've had a chance to break it in a bit...
# 10.03.03 file under i wish i could afford a car: the new hybrid prius will have performa automatic parallel parking. this, of course, among other things. # 10.01.03 two great shows at the fillmore in november: modest mouse and death cab for cutie. should i get tickets to both? how can i pass them up? but ohhh, the money.. # « September 2003 | archive index | November 2003 » built with movabletype |
